Elmo

Fact- Elmo, from Sesame Street, is the only non-human to have testified before Congress. He spoke on behalf of funding for music research and funding in education.

His street is in New York, but Elmo has traveled around the world. His 2002 visit to Capitol Hill was a first for a couple reasons: He was the only non-human ever to testify before Congress, and he wore clothes (a suit, in fact) for the occasion. Elmo appeared before the Education Appropriations Subcommittee to argue for funding for music research and instruments. Though I wasn't really nervous, I was glad to be under the table — this was Congress, after all, writes Clash in his autobiography.
